Aldi's

ROCKS!!!

Ok, for any readers that have held on through the dry spell here on the cheap skate housewife, err... sparing spender, I have a great welcome back post.

Aldi's has FINALLY opened.

YES. THEY. ARE. THAT. GOOD!

Now, if you don't know anything about Aldi's then let me fill you in. 90% of their stock is their brand ONLY! You pay a quarter for your shopping cart but get it back upon return of cart. You either have to bring your own bags, find an empty box (these are free) or pay for their bags; $.06 for paper and $.10 for plastic. You have to bay your own groceries (this slightly OCD personality loves that). There is no customer service desk, anyone can and will help you. The store is 1/3rd the size of a regular grocery store. There aisles are wider but fewer by far.

Did I mention I loved it?

I went opening day and picked up a few random things that we are pretty particular about as far as quality and a few essentials.

HANDS DOWN THEIR PRICES ROCK AND THEIR QUALITY IS AWESOME.

I saved $.80 a gallon on milk alone. I saved over $1.00 on a pound of cheese. I saved over $1.50 on chips. Banana's are $.24 PER POUND! Even hubby (who is VERY picky about his cereal) Loved his cereal, which was over $2.00 cheaper than our normal grocery store!!!!

This weekend we are going to do full blown grocery shopping there. I am going to try to only shop there for the month of November and see how much I save. You bet I will let you know. I am sure I will post along the way as things spark my interest, and hopefully yours.

If you don't have an Aldi's near you, I send my condolences. If you do and haven't tried it, what are you waiting for?! If you do and you go frequently, please share your joy with my readers!!!!

Here in IL they have been around for as long as I can remember & I do the bulk of my shopping there with usually buying my meat at the local grocer...I save $$$!!!
I can only imagine how excited a frugal Mama would have been to have it finally open!
